Finding the Right Solution…

In June 2019, FirstPort first contacted PCM to request a soft approach to a parking management service as a solution on their development.

Following a number of extensive internal discussions between FirstPort and the Residents Association regarding the consistent parking problems that were occurring on site, it was decided that PCM’s services with a firmer approach was now a necessity.

Our Approach

Resident communication

As the incumbent provider had ceased to operate the site, the parking problems were increasing at an exponential rate.

PCM offered app-based solutions to keep resident visitors and the onsite NHS clinic patients an easy, frictionless parking procedure.

Ahead of the scheme starting, all residents received communication with any relevant permits, hand delivered as per our standard procedure. In this correspondence our services were clearly explained with the new restrictions and FAQ’s regarding the services implemented.

Regular enforcement

Regular patrols to enforce the agreed terms and conditions of parking have been in place.  It is far better for all concerned that instead of infrequent visit days, PCM operatives patrol regularly at varying times.  Residents are aware of this and adhere to the parking terms and as a result far fewer Parking Charge Notices (PCNs) are issued.

The use of our PCM Enforce app is also permitted on this development to allow key members of the estate to take action even at times when our operatives are not on site.

Exemptions

The Management office can authorise exemptions to vehicles at their discretion via our proprietary Business Virtual Permit (VBP) app, enabling them to retain control to ensure there is no abuse of this system. Alternatively, staff or contractors themselves can call our dedicated “contractor” permit line number to receive a permit code that will allow them to park for a specified period.

NHS Clinic visitors

Patients attending the onsite NHS clinic register their parking session in the reception area of the clinic using our VBP app on another PCM supplied tablet and stand.

Visitor parking

Visitor parking spaces are always a potential hotspot and can cause real stress for residents with bona fide requirements. Royal Earlswood Park use our recently developed Virtual Visitor Parking (VVP) app. The VVP app makes arranging temporary visitor permits a simple 30 second process for the resident. On arrival, the visitor’s reg number is keyed into the app by the resident, and our enforcement operatives are immediately notified that this is an authorised visitor.

Moving forwards

Working with the development sales team we prepare parking documentation in advance for each new resident. Documentation and permits are ready for each new arrival as they receive their welcome pack on day 1. Line marking services, permit replacement, signage replacement and abandoned vehicle removal are all available and can be arranged by calling our account management team.
